Startup i Praksis

Startup i Praksis is an opportunity for the student who, through his/her studies, has developed an exciting business idea and is interested in working full time on this idea. The project enables the student to do a project-oriented course (internship) in his/her own startup. As the project also focuses on creating internships in one of AAU's many own startups it is also an opportunity for the student who is just curious about what it is like to be an entrepreneur and would like to be part of the dynamics that characterize the entrepreneurial environment.

Studies show that modern companies are demanding employees with entrepreneurial skills. Being an entrepreneur is more than starting and running a business. It's about being creative, proactive, opportunity oriented and innovative. These are characteristics that the student, regardless of whether he/she work on his/her own business idea or become a team member in someone else's startup, will have the opportunity to develop by participating in Startup i Praksis.

PROJECT ORIENTED COURSE (INTERNSHIP) IN OWN STARTUP

For the student who wants to develop his/her idea while he/she is studying and not in the spare time, Startup i Praksis is a unique opportunity as the project enables precisely this through an ECTS-rewarding project-oriented course. While being interns in their own companies the students get support from SEA to ensure that they get the most of it:

  • A permanent position in the AAU Incubator, where the student sits with other AAU startups and other students doing the same course.
  • A business developer who gives the student personal sparring on his/her business idea.
  • Affiliation with AAU's Startup Program, where the student is expected to attend workshops and events relevant to the development of the student's business idea.

Thus, SEA acts as a workplace during the internship and the associated business developer as an internship supervisor, which ensures structure and high quality to the course.

PROJECT ORIENTED COURSE (INTERNSIP) IN SOMEONE ELSE’S STARTUP

For the student who wants to be part of an innovative environment and work with entrepreneurship, where one's professional and personal skills come into play in new ways, Startup i Praksis is also a good opportunity. The project focuses on matching internship-seeking students with an interest in startups with one of AAU's many startups. The course of these interns is also supported by SEA:

  • The startup in which the student is doing the internship is approved by the business developers of AAU's Incubator to have students affiliated.
  • The student is given the opportunity to participate in workshops and events through AAU's Startup Program.
  • The student receives sparring from SEA's business developers during their internship.

For these interns it is the startup that is the place of internship, but the associated business developers, the Incubator as a physical workplace and the events of the Startup Program will ensure structure and quality.

EXPERIENCE OF STUDENTS DOING THEIR INTERNSHIP IN STARTUPS / MICRO COMPANIES

SEA has in connection with a previous project interviewed a handful of students with various educational backgrounds about their internship experiences in startups and micro businesses. This mini-publication may be inspiring in describing some of the things that are special to this type of companies as well as knowing about the motivations of the students to choose this type of companies for their exchange. AAU INCUBATOR: THE FRAMEWORK OF THE INTERNSHIP

Whether the student chooses to take an internship in their own company or in another startup, the basis for the project-oriented course becomes the AAU Incubator.

AAU Incubator is a startup environment for students at AAU. In the Incubator you will find open workstations and many other students with a passion for startups and entrepreneurship. Here you can work on his startup idea and get guidance from our talented business developers, who are always just around the corner. The incubator is not only a meeting place for students with entrepreneurial dreams but also the focal point of general entrepreneurship activities at AAU.

Each year, the AAU Incubator organizes a series of workshops, events, programs and social events dedicated to providing even more students with the courage, knowledge and necessary skills to develop their business ideas and turn them into reality.

The Incubator can be found at the following locations:

  • Incubator Aalborg: Fibigerstræde 11, 9220 Aalborg Ø
